Future projects

So since successfully making a dress, I decided that I'm going to try to keep it up!  One project a week.  Well...minus next week because that week is Day Camp.  But after Day Camp is over...one project per week!  First project: finish my quilt.  Here is it's current state:

Sorry for the picture quality.  It was taken from my cell phone.  The last 3 rows (on the right) are not sewn on yet.  And then I have to do the padding and the back.  So...not too much left on it.

But back to the title of my page.  Here are the future projects I want to do:

This last one probably won't ever get done...well...maybe.  But its harder then all the rest!  Lets see how many of these I can accomplish!  And how cheaply I can do them too!

The Convertible Dress How To

So I've always loved Victoria Secret's Convertible Dress.  But I never wanted to pay $89.00 for it!  So I looked it up online to see if I could make it myself.  And sure enough someone had tried it before!  Below I have directions for how I made it and also pictures of me in the process and what it turned out like!  More photos coming soon of different ways to wear it.

I bought my material at Joannes when they had a good sale on!
I saved 50% on my material!!
The fabric I chose.  It is a Rayon stretch fabric.  You want to make sure you get a stretch fabric!
Measuring the width of the straps (for me it was 10 inches).
This is my dog Sadie.  She likes to get in the way. :-)
Once again...in the way.
I put pins in every few inches to make sure I cut as straight of a line as I could (this is my method since I've never really sewn anything before!!)
Sewing all of the layers together.
The final product!!
Here is what the back looks for wearing it this way.
Did I mention it is incredibly comfortable???

And here are the directions for how I made the dress...Take note that my skirt is a square, rather then a circle.  I wanted the skirt to be different lengths.
The length for the straps is 1.5 - I just realized it kind of looks like 15.  But it is one and a half.

Leave me a comment if you want me to email you the instructions.  Or you should be able to click on it and then it will appear larger - right click and save the photo to your computer! :-)

More photos coming soon of the different ways to wear it!

Current favorite blog

So I thought I would share with you one of my favorite blogs that I follow.  On my google reader I follow A LOT of blogs.  I have them divided up as friends blogs, crafting blogs, photography blogs, funny blogs and wedding blogs.  I discovered this blog from my cousin Jessica.  She told me about it because this girl takes really cute photos and because she has a baby with down syndrome and I'm looking into volunteering my photography for taking photos of families with children who are sick.

You should check her out...the story of her and her girls is amazing in how God's love and shown through their trials.  She is also SO creative.  I look at the awesome scrapbook she designed all the time to get ideas for my own.  And the photos she takes are gorgeous - so is she and her daughters too.

So here it is: Enjoying the Small Things

P.S. Turn your volume up too because the music on her blog is really fun too!
