Legacy

Ok...so I lied. Not more tomorrow...more tonight! haha :-) So the other day I put Proverbs 31 on my myspace page (I know I know...everyone tries to pour out their souls on their myspace pages...I'm not really...just...I donno!). Well above the passage I put the statement: "The woman I desire to be." The passage says a lot of things of what a wife should be. Or...a noble wife. I relate the first part of verse 10 to a passage that is in the front most of my mind of what to look for in a husband, which is: "Many a man claims unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?" (Proverbs 20:3) The words Noble and Faithful have a lot of...I guess I could say, sub-pockets to them. They are powerful words and hold a lot of meanings to them and to be called a faithful man or a noble woman would be an honor because of what those words entail. Well..on to my main thought here...ever since serving/going to Anne Ernesse's (I know I spelled it wrong) funeral I have been thinking about service, giving, and just being a people person. Those were the things that everyone said Anne was. And I was thinking...I want people to say those type of things about me at my funeral. That I was giving and served people and loved people! My grandma, or as I call Nanny was a wonderful woman who I admired SO much and I wish she could be alive today so I could learn from her, but obviously the Lord wanted her much more then I ever could. But she was known as always serving others...she ran around my grandpa so much and just served him in every way. And that's just who she was! And since I am told I am like her...I really want to live up to that! So I donno what I'm saying...I guess I want to work on being a woman who leaves a legacy. I think my favorite song has always been Legacy by Nicole Nordeman. The line that says "I want to leave a legacy. How will they remember me? Did I choose to love? Did I point to you enough?" I want that! Wow I feel like I am rambling. Anyways...I want to work on service. That is what this whole rambling blog is saying.

Proverbs 31:10-30

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
