Forehead to the floor

I wanted to share something that I read the other day in a Beth Moore study I am doing. It stuck out to me so much that I have been thinking on it for the past few days and have felt so convicted by it. The study was focusing on worship and she was setting the stage for how she wants the study to be focused. She said she wants one of our commitments in this study to take a moment every day to get down on our faces before God. At first I didn't take her seriously. But she proceeds to explain how she daily puts her forehead to the ground before the Lord.

“If one of our priority goals is to press to a higher place with God, we could do few things that would enhance our progress more than bowing low so God can lift us up. Humbling ourselves before God is not the same thing as self-hatred. Humility is the natural posture of anyone who grasps the greatness of God.”

She proceeds to tell a story of how after putting her face down on the concrete she got up to do her daily make up routine to discover grains of concrete on her forehead. How humbling might it be to literally put my face on the floor before the Lord thanking Him, praising Him and placing my day, my life before Him? Of course, I started doubting this absolutely wonderful idea thinking, “Well, I have no where that I could do that in the house I live in..” I realized I needed to check myself! So what if one of the girls in my house sees me putting my forehead to the floor in reverence to the Lord? So what if my roommate wakes up in the morning to me on the floor praying to the Lord? Would it be all that bad? Or is my pride just too big?

So, my challenge to you is, will you daily put your face to the floor for the Lord? Will you set your pride aside each morning and humble yourself before Him? How do you think that would influence your day? Would it create a new perspective? Would you feel more enabled to do what He wants for you because you did something that might seem so silly, for Him?
