So, for those of you who didn't know, I have a photography internship this quarter at the P-I. It was a last second thing and I actually ended up dropping a class because I got the internship! So I'm working with a guy who writes a new blog called, "After Dark." Humberto is new to Seattle and so he is going around exploring what happens around Seattle after dark. Kind of newcomers guide to Seattle, and also those of us who don't know what fun stuff is around Seattle...its great! And then on top of that I have been scanning some of their photo archives. It is actually my favorite part. I'm looking at photos that haven't been looked at in over 50 years! There are some amazing ones. Today I scanned photos of the Seattle Artiliary facility and Naval facility. I have fun distracting some of the reporters and my boss by showing them photos...someone could spend hours going through the hundreds of photos I've already scanned.
It's so cool...they have a basement room just FULL of cabinet after cabinet full of these photos. They are really randomly labeled so they are hard to find if you want to search for something specific. Hence why they want them digitalized. Pretty soon we are going to start a blog so I can upload galleries of the cool photos I find (hopefully that will happen soon!). So far I've taken photos of the Seattle Wedding Show and also of a Rave last weekend. The rave was interesting...not my scene for sure. I was SO uncomfortable, and definitely didn't like what my clothes smelt like when I got home. My boss said that we won't be shooting events like that anymore. Thank goodness! So keep your eye open for my name to appear on the www.seattlepi.com website!! :-)
